Play-Up Requests

If you are interested in having your athlete "Play-Up" an age division, please email your request to LCBSASoftballVP@gmail.com at least 7 days prior to evaluations for the season. Your request will be reviewed by the LCBSA Softball Board and taken into consideration under the following guidelines:

Determination for eligibility for a player to participate in a higher age division than prescribed by the USA Softball age chart will rely on the following conditions:

• Player/Guardian must request play-up prior to evaluations/tryout
• Player’s DOB must be within one year of the eligible age division
• Player must demonstrate that they are capable of keeping themselves and others safe while competing in their eligible age-bracket, and the higher age division
• Player must demonstrate that their skill level is appropriate for the higher age division
  • Skill evaluations will be completed at both the eligible and higher age division
  • Skill will be evaluated by coaches, general managers & board members
• There must be available roster spots open in the higher division – If team formation becomes lopsided by allowing play-ups, request may be denied

Final determination must be approved by the LCBSA Softball Board and players/guardians will be notified of boards determination.

If player is allowed to play-up, it is the Board’s view that that player will remain in the higher division for the entirety of the season, including throughout All-Star play. If player is not selected to the All-Star team of the higher division, they may be considered for the All-Star team of the lower division with approval by the Softball Board and the Manager of said team. No guarantee is made for selection to either higher or lower division All-Star team.
